⭐ Featured Majors ⭐
This month’s featured student is Gracie Luebbe.
Gracie Luebbe is a sophomore from Columbus, Nebraska, where she attended Columbus High School. At UNK, Gracie is majoring in Secondary Education with a 7-12 English Endorsement and a minor in Spanish. On campus, she is involved in the Alpha Phi sorority, the Honors Program, and LPAC (Loper Programming and Activities Council). She also serves as a Homecoming Co-Chair for LPAC, a Student Senator for Student Government, and works as a writing tutor in the Learning Commons. At UNK Research Day, her paper titled, “An Analysis of the Traits Which Form the Identities of Three Women within There There,” won the Diversity Award.
I love all the opportunities that UNK provides for students, especially any chance to create connections within the English Department! In each of my English classes, I have been able to meet so many new people and develop new relationships with both faculty and peers. Even if someone is not pursuing a major in English or even a minor, they should consider taking at least class in Thomas Hall with this group of people, because they will gain so many new ideas and perspectives from this excellent opportunity.
Being able to represent the English Department as a Student Senator is also a great chance for me to make connections within student government so I can be a voice for my peers. I believe that getting involved in as many organizations and groups as possible while in college is a great way to expand your horizons and become more well-rounded. I greatly encourage all students, those in the English Department or not, to try and become as active as they can on campus because it will bring them amazing experiences and great friends!
