The Department of English is part of the humanities division in the College of Arts and Sciences along with the Departments of History, Modern Languages, and Philosophy. UNK recently revised the number of courses students across the university are required to take (what’s called “general studies”) in order to give undergraduates more opportunities to pursue a double major, an additional minor, or take more elective courses. Find out more HERE.

The Department of English offers a B.A. in English (literature or writing emphasis) and B.A.E. in English 7-12 or Language Arts 7-12 in addition to 5 minors:

  • English Minor

  • Childhood and Youth Studies

  • Creative Writing

  • Film Studies

  • Popular Culture
